Joe Jaspers (Champ) Neal Gaston (A Flight) Jimmy Champman & Mike Cavallino (B Flight) Nolan Elenz (C Flight) Mike Hinson (Hole-in-One)
CC of Salisbury the fastest greens on tour. Running close to 13 Salisbury put its perfect (Augusta Lake) greens up against the Charlotte Egolf Amateur Tour players and won. Based on scores I’m sure there was not one player who did not have a 3 putt on Saturday. All players enjoyed the day even though putting conditions were something they may have never seen before. Thanks again to all the staff at CC of Salisbury for letting us play this great old Donald Ross designed course. Truly a favorite stop on tour so we will see you at the end of the season for our final event.
Championship Flight:
Joe Jaspers was the only player to break par Saturday and cruised to victory with a stellar round of 70. Finishing 4 shots back were David Schmidt and Chad Frye both players posted 74’s. Schmidt beat out Frye on the scorecard for second place money. Rounding out the top four was Todd McPherson with 75.
A Flight:
Neal Gaston had no problems with the greens and captured his second A flight win of the season by firing a smooth 74 on Saturday. Finishing in second spot was Greg Ries at 82. Mark Simonian at 84 and Stan Lucas 85, rounded out the top four spots .
B Flight:
Jimmy Chapman and Mike Cavallino played in the same group on Saturday and finished the day tied for first place with 80’s. The only sudden-death playoff of the day started on hole number 10 and Chapman’s par sealed the victory over Cavallino. Richard Ellams cashed for the first time all season with 82 while Doug Watson finished in fourth place with 83.
C Flight:
Nolan Elenz grabbed his first win of the season by firing an 86 on Saturday. Patrick Williams was the only other player to break 90 and shot 88 to finish in second spot. Three players all tied for third with 90 but it was Mike Hinson winning the card playoff for third while Jeff Gastineau beat out Steve Daniels for fourth place money.
The shot of the day came from Mike Hinson as he aced the par 3 14th hole. It was Mike’s second ace in an eGolf Amateur Tour tournament; the other coming last season at Skybrook. Mike hit a 5 iron from 160 into the jar for his third ever hole-in-one.
The tours next stop on April 10th will take us to Concord, and the Rocky River GC an 8:30am shotgun start. Please email me back (Yes or No) if you wish to get entered.
Rocky River will offer all participants a $25 rate available Monday-Thursday the week prior to the tournament. Show your tour card to get the rate please.
