Thanks to all the staff at Charlotte National once again showing us great playing conditions. Fairways and greens were perfect and the rough was high and tough. The tour looks forward to stopping by again next season.
Championship Flight:
Jim Aughtry fired his lowest round of the season on Saturday a 4 under par 68. Aughtry started fast with birdies at 2 & 3, and turned at 35. Then on the inward nine Aughtry played flawless with 3 birdies against no bogies for a 3 under 33 back side. Finishing right on Aughtry’s heels were Brian Howie and Michael Bailey at 3 under par 69’s. Howie birdied the number one handicap hole to win second place on the card. Joe Jaspers also won on the card defeating Dave Schmidt and Todd McPherson for 4th place.
A Flight:
Drew Miller recorded the only under par round this year in A Flight and by far his best competitive round ever on tour. Drew started out slow doubling the par four 11th hole and by the time he got to the par 5 second hole he was 2 over par with five to play. Miller then reeled off birdies at 2,3 and 5 to finish the day at 71. Newcomer John Alessio finished four shots back in second place with a 75. Mike Harter continues his strong play finishing third with 76. Mark Day and Sean Walsh both tied at 77 but it was Day grabbing 4 spot on the card.
B Flight:
Dennis Reames wins for the first time in 09. Dennis fired a five over par 77 to capture his first victory. Finishing just one back was Jerry York at 78. 79 was a very popular number on Saturday with Gary Kochman, Scott Ide & Chris Jenkins all shooting this number. Kochman finished in third place while Ide got fourth spot on the card playoff.
C Flight:
Allen Hagen captured first on Saturday with a strong 82. Right behind Hagen was John Rinaldi at 83. Richard Marazza and Brian Sanders both finished at 84 but it was Marrazza winning over Sanders on the card playoff.
