The eGolf Amateur Tour make sits first tour stop ever to Cowans Ford CC. The course is located right on Lake Norman and had a complete redo about 2 years ago. It is one of the favorite stops on the Senior Tour now we get to play it on the eGolf Amateur Tour.
I already have a lot of people signed up so don’t wait to long to sign up as I’m sure it will be a sell-out. Please email me back (Yes or No) ASAP. This is a 1:30 shotgun start.
Practice rounds are available Tuesday-Thursday only for $35 but you must be entered in the tournament because the course will have a roster of names to check.
Championship Flight:
David Schmidt comes back after about a month off from the tour and wins by three Saturday at River Hills CC. Schmidt’s round was a little up and down but his 5 birdies help seal the victory for David as he fired an even par 72 on the extremely tight River Hills CC. Once again River Hills proved to be one of the toughest courses to score on the tour. No one broke par in Champ Flight for one of the first times all season. Joe Jaspers and Alex Brenner finished tied at 75 but it was Jaspers nipping Brenner on the card for second place. Mike McBride and Jim Aughtry tied with 77’s but McBride won on the card for 4th place money.
A Flight:
One of our 2 sudden-death playoffs occurred in A flight on Saturday. After 18 holes both Mike Harter and Phil Gregorich were all tied with 81’s. They went back to the 18th hole not once but twice to decide the winner. On the first time Gregorich holed out of the bunker for a par save but on second time around Phil had a little trouble and Harter was surrender the victory. Jerry York just moved up from B flight last week and seems to enjoy the yardage in A Flight as he fired an 82 but was beat out by Bryan Lewis on the card for 3rd place. Congrats Jerry on cashing in your first A Flight event.
B Flight:
Vic Lawrence won for the first time this season and did so in fine fashion. Vic was the only player to break 80 in the flight and won easily by three shots on Saturday. Dennis Reames played consistent all day and finished in second place with 80. Dean Hearn fired an 84 good for 3rd place while Richard Ellams rounded out the top four spots with an 85.
C Flight:
Kelley Moss and Charles Mines finished the day all tied at 89. Again the playoff went to the 18th hole where Moss beat out Mines for his first victory on the tour. Moss said it was a very difficult golf course one he had never seen before, I’m not sure if that is a bad thing as next year he will know more about all the OB’s that lurk on every hole and the famed River Hills cart path marks on your golf ball. Congrats to both players on being the only to guy’s to break 90 in the flight. Newcomer Scott Grigg fit in fine with the c flight and cashed in third place with 90 beating out Dana Greer and Bill Holland on the card playoff. Dana Greer placed 4th and Bill Holland fifth on the other card playoff.
