2018 Charlotte Local Finals-Dave Schmidt, Joe Zambrecky, Terry Upright, Luke Lavorato & Bradley Leak all win!
Local Finals Recap
A great two days ended the Charlotte Season last
weekend.
In the Championship flight, we needed two extra holes to
decide our Local Finals winner. David
Schmidt and Scott Patnode both tied at 1 under par 142 after two days of
play. It took two extra holes and a
birdie on the second for David to claim the victory and with that his entry fee
for the Nationals in Hilton Head was paid for. Wally Love continues his strong play in the second half of
the year and was solo third at 1 over par.
Charlie Niland took home 4th place honors with a score of 2 over 145.
In the A Flight, just like the champ flight, we needed a
sudden death on-course playoff to decide our Local Finals winner. Joe Zabrecky and Don Bridges both ended up
tied at 8 over 151 for the weekend. Just
like the champ flight, it took 2 holes and a birdie on the second hole to
decide our eventual winner, Joe Zabrecky.
Chad Hagerman too home solo 3rd with a total of 10 over 153 and Michael
Brandenburg took home solo 4th with a score of 154.
In the B Flight, Terry Upright did not need extra holes to
claim his second major of the season and a promotion to the A flight for the
National Finals. his 2 day today of 163
was one better that Dan Ahlers who really came on strong in the second half and
just missed the B Flight championship title.
Cornelius Jackson took home solo 3rd with a score of 165 and Mike
Edwards nipped Justin Boyd in our tiebreaker to take home 4th place.
In the C Flight, Luke Lavorato took home the final major of
the year with a score of 168 and a two shot victory over Jim Wittersheim. Christian Casper having his best showing in
2017 took home 3rd place and rounding out the top 4 was Scott Cain.
In the D Flight, Bradley Leak had the largest margin of victory
over the weekend with a total of 180 and a 6 shot victory over Chris Word and
Eric Herman. Chris tied Eric Herman for
2nd place with a total of 186, but it was Chris who claims second with the
better day 2 score. (1st tiebreaker)
