Championship Flight:
Joe Jaspers punches his ticket to Hilton Head with his first major victory in the 2012 season. Jaspers let his putter do the talking as he had only ten putts on the back nine Saturday to post a five under back nine and 67 total. Day two just watch the You Tube video and you’ll see all the putts he made. Chris Cassetta played smooth all weekend and finished in second with 73-72=145. Grant Butler cashed in third at 147 and Cliff Earle rounded out the top four with a 2 day total of 148.
A Flight:
Don Bridges made a big move on Sunday and won his first major by two shots with a 155 total. Charles Devenney and Ritchie Fesperman both tied at 157 with Devenney grabbing second place on the card playoff. Daniel Jackson finished fourth at 158 and first round lead Dave Randazzo slipped a bit on Sunday but still managed a 5th place tie at 159 with Marty James.
B Flight:
Kirk Tatge picked a great time to win his first ever event on tour as he posted a two day total of 162 for the one shot victory. Day one leader Joe Lewis, Tom Chambers and Allen Hagen all tied in second place with 163. Hagen posted his best round ever on tour a 74 on Sunday which moved his index down to A Flight now. Congrats to Hagen who has moved up 2 flights in less than 6 months.
C Flight:
Ken Burke won by only one shot this weekend as he posted a two day total of 168. Robert Smith finished in second with 169 and Charles Mines beat out Larry Hinson on the card for third place money. Both Mines and Hinson fired 36 hole totals of 177.
D Flight:
Jay Turner won his first major ever and also will be in for Hilton Head as he fired a strong 179 to win by seven shots. The 2 day total also moved Turner up to C flight for the next event. Joseph Rinaldi grabbed second at 186 and Chris Harmon was third at 189.
Thanks to all who donated to the Charlotte Teams SUTC pot, I’ll have the exact amount collected by mid month. Also thanks to all of you who gave great interviews about playing on the GolfWeek Amateur Tour.
