River Run CC 6/11/2018
92 Golfers from the Charlotte, Central Carolina and Upstate tours battled the hot and humid conditions in Davidson on the Monday afternoon. The greens were fast and the rough was long which made for a challenging day for all the players.
In the Championship Flight, returning Member Jay Jay Howard took home the 1st place Trophy and Gift Card after posting an excellent round of 74. John Heffernan (76) beat out Jay Barnes (76) for second based on the scorecard playoff method. Rounding out the Top 4 was Matt Gray.
In the A Flight, we needed extra holes to decide the winner today. Don Bridges (79) and Ivan Jones (79) from the Central Carolina tour went back to 18 to start the playoff. Don made a par on the first extra hole while Ivan ran into some problems with the lake guarding the right side of the hole and ended up with double bogie. Paul Aschmann (80) took home third. Rounding out the top 4 was Phil VanGeersdaelen (81).
In the B Flight it was Dean Barron (83) who won for the first time ever in the B Flight. It looked like Dean was going to walk away with the win, but he started leaking a bit of oil over his last few holes to stay ahead by one. Xin Zhang (84) continues his strong play this year and take homes 2nd. Mike Edwards (85) takes home 3rd and rounding out the top 4 was James Burrell (86).
In the C Flight, Christian Casper (87) returns to the winner’s circle by taking a 2 shot victory over three golfers who all shot 89. Eric Seibert (89) takes second in the scorecard playoff and Colton Hollis takes 3rd and last paying position. Scott Cain (89), just missed out this week after winning the last event.
In the D Flight, it was Vince Thompson (91) from the Central Carolina tour who takes home first place with a 2 shot victory over Raymond Hoerr (93).
In less than 2 weeks, the second Charlotte Major will be upon us. We are taking the first 112 paid players to play at the Club @ Irish Creek. Please make sure the PAID status on the Who's playing list is correct. If you see something wrong, please let me know asap so I can research.
Thanks as always for the support and see everyone in a few weeks.
