River Hills CC Winners on the eGolf Amateur Tour!
Thanks to all the staff at River Hills once again showing us great playing conditions. As I predicted last week watch out for this course it will produce high numbers. An easy prediction as I have 10 years of scores to look at.
Championship Flight:
Joe Jaspers was able to stay away from the big numbers on Saturday. Jaspers round of 72 consisted of only 2 bogies against tow birdies for his even par victory. Fresh of playing in the US Public Links Championship, Hickory’s Chase Wilson finished in second place at 74. Jim Aughtry increased his points lead by finishing in third place at 75. Ted Cox rounded out the top four with 77. Believe it or not those were the only 4 players to break 80 in Championship Flight at River Hills CC.
A Flight:
Andrew Chappuis fought of 2 double bogies at 10 and 12 with birdies at 13 and 16 to win on Saturday by one shot. Chappuis fired a 79 for his victory while Mark Day finished one shot behind at 80. Day posts his best finish in A Flight since his promotion several months ago from B Flight. Travis Palmer fired an 82 to capture 3rd place and Chuck Wallace finished fourth at 84.
B Flight:
Jimmy Chapman and Jerry York tied at 81 and went back to the eighteenth tee to start the playoff. Unfortunately when York got ready to tee off Chapman told Jerry he was at the wrong tee box, realizing his mistake York told Chapman he had played those tees all day and DQ himself. York played in a group with all A Flight players so the mistake was never noticed by his fellow playing competitors. A great disappointment to both Chapman for York but he did realize what the rules of golf say. Vic Lawrence continues his consistent play and moved to moved only 25 points behind Dean Hearn for the B flights points lead. Geof Smith “Cashed†again and finished in third spot with an 84. Terry Upright rounded out the top four spots at 85.
C Flight:
PJ Welsh called Saturday morning and ask if there was still room and he then fired an 86 to win his first tournament of the season. On a day that saw many triple bogies in all flights PJ only carded one on the day which probably lead to his victory. Darren Gentile was the only other player to break 90 and finished only one shot back with 87. Dana Greer cashed for the first time this season and finished in third place with 91. Christian Casper and Matt Papes both carded 92’s but it was Casper winning fourth spot on the score card playoff.
Remember we play one of the tours favorite stops Rock Barn (Jones Course) on the 25th! (1:30pm shotgun start)
Champ & A will play the Gold Tees and B & C flight will play the Blue tees.
Practice rounds are available all week at Rock Barn CC for only $59. If you get a chance do yourself a favor and play a practice round. This is the course where the Champions Tour will play in September.
