Barnes, Breedlove, Santee, Calhoun & Leak all win at Carolina Lakes.
The Charlotte Golfweek Amateur Tour started this past
Saturday with an excellent turnout on a very cold day. With temps not rising above the high 40's all
day long, 118 golfers representing 6 different tours teed it up at Sun City,
Carolina Lakes in Indian Land, SC. Among the 118 players, we welcomed over 2
dozen first timers to the tour and Live Scoring was added as an added benefit
to every Charlotte event for 2017.
In the Championship Flight, the 2016 Golfweek Amateur Tour
National Champion, Jay Barnes picked up right where he left off. Jay was the only player to break par on the
day, shooting a 2 under par 70 winning by 5 shots. One of our new members, Jerrel Fields, shot
75 to take 2nd place honors. Tour vet,
Dennis Reames took home 3rd with a score of 77.
Rounding out the top 4 was Jody Clary(78) who joined the Charlotte tour this year coming from Upstate in
previous years.
In the A flight, Jason Breedlove took home the first-place
trophy with a great round of 76 in the brisk conditions. Second place honors went to Tom Chambers with
a round of 77. Chris Edmands and AJ
Jackson both shot 78 to Tie for 3rd, but it was Edmands taking home 3rd place
winning the scorecard playoff.
In the B Flight, Bob Santee came in from the Upstate tour to
take top honors shooting a great round of 79.
Second place was newcomer, Justin Lowder shooting 81. Dan Boeving and Chris Lepore both shot 82 to
tie for 3rd, but it was Boeving who won the Tie Breaker using the scorecard
playoff.
In the C Flight, it was another visiting tour member from
the Upstate Tour, Josh Calhoun who shot 86 to win by one stroke. Peter Brenner took solo second shooting 87
and just like the A and B flight, we had a tie for 3rd place. Patrick Ramsey and Robert Taggart both shot
88, and it was Ramsey winning the scorecard playoff.
In the D flight, Bradley Leak won by 4 shots shooting
94. Newcomer Keith Gibson took home
second place shooting 98 and rounding out the top three was Derek Kemp shooting
99.
All results are now loaded.
The result link on the left-hand menu will show you the tournament
scores, Points won and event index that was calculated based on Slope and
Rating of the course. If you view the
Results using the Link under the course logo at the bottom, you will find the
Hole-By-Hole results from Live Scoring as well as the SKINS and Closest to Pin
winners (Hole and Distance).
NOTE: Champ and A flight skins were carried over as no holes were won at Carolina Lakes. As a result, The Champ and A Flight skins pot will start with $420 in the carry over pot.
In the Super Skins, we had 3 holes won this past weekend...2 were won by B flight particiapnts and a 3rd by a C Flight particiapnt. So...for those that think that the Super skins are only won by the Champ guys, this is a good example that this is not the case.
Thanks for all your support, See you guys at Edgewater on the 18th of February.
Register now to reserve your spot. I'm sure we will sell out again.
