Vincent wins by one; Breedlove fires his best A Flight round; McCoy beats Smith in sudden-death playoff and Dave Gabbard gets his first victory ever on tour! Championship Flight: Adam Vincent started out sizziling hot Saturday firing a front nine 4 under par 32. Adam would finish his round at one under 71 just nipping out 3 other players for first. Michael Bailey, points leader Joe jaspers and Jim Aughtry all shot even par 72’s Saturday. It was Bailey however who had the most exciting round of the three. Bailey was 5 over par standing on the par 5 14th tee box and then ran off birdies at 14, 15, eagled 16th, and birdied the 18th, thus going five under par for the last five holes. By doing so Bailey finished ahead of Jaspers on the card and closed the points race to only 44 points with 2 tourneys’s left. A Flight: Jason Breedlove continues his improved play this year on tour notching his second victory of the season. Breedlove said it was one of the best ball striking rounds he has ever had and posted a three shot victory Saturday with a 75. Cashing for the first time this season was Gary Fesperman who shot 78. Roy Santonil another B flight promoter continues to improve in A Flight firing a smooth 79 which was good enough for third place. Round out the top 4 was points leader Mike Nasekos at 81. B Flight: Once again B flight continues to be a battle each week. This week Greg McCoy and Geof Smith both shot a pair of 79’s. McCoy and Smith went to a sudden-death playoff on the 10th hole with both players’ making par. It was on the par three 11th that McCoy snatched victory after Smith hit his tee shot into the water. For McCoy the victory moved him into the top ten in the points chase and Smith cashed the highest he has all season. Vic Lawrence and Western Piedmont player Ricky Cope tied with 81’s Saturday, but Lawrence got third place on the scorecard playoff. C Flight: Dave Gabbard won for the first time on tour with a sparkling 84 on Saturday. Dave was a late entry and filled a slot with a B flight group so he had to wait for about 2 hours until the final group’s scores were posted. Congratulations Dave! Finishing only 2 shots behind Gabbard in second place was Richard Marraza with 86. Sammy Hicks, Mac Gillum and point’s leader John Rinaldi all fired 87’s but Hicks finished third on the card and Gillum was 4th. Congrat’s go out to Sammy Hicks who’s 87 was the best round of golf ever, way to go Sammy!! Note: All the information is not up on the 2008 Tour Championship in Hilton Head.
