On
Monday April 3rd, 88 brave souls turned out to Cedarwood country club to do battle.
Not only with the golf course, but with Mother Nature as well. In
the end we had to shorten the event after all players played 9 holes. The
course was getting to the point where it was unplayable and we could not
continue past the 9-hole mark. As you all know, when we start a round, we
do everything in our power to try and finished the round, so this was not a
decision made lightly.
In the End, we still crowned 5 flight
champions and paid out all skins and CTP's prior to leaving the course all wet
and tired.
In the Champ Flight, Job Dyson and
Jay Barnes tied after regulation and with the course conditions as they were,
we used the scorecard playoff to determine the eventual winner. Jobe
Dyson get his first victory of the year. Jerell fields took home 3rd and Rob
Phillips rounded out the top 4.
In the A Flight, it was Kevin Ronan
who took home 1st place beating out Terrance Newsome (Upstate) using the
scorecard playoff. 3rd and 4th were also settle using the scorecard
playoff and it was Michael Brandenburg besting John Ervin.
In the B flight, it was David
Aussicker taking home the 1st place prize. Dan Boeving took home 2nd,
Jimmy Bryant (Upstate) took home 4rd and Matt Crates rounded out the top 4.
In the C flight, it was newcomer
Max Fuchs who took advantage of his local knowledge to take home 1st place
honors. Robert Moreland was 2nd and Tony Pharr beat out Michael Guarino
securing 3rd and 4th place respectively.
In the D Flight, Vince Johnson, who
sent me an email at 6:00 a.m. asking if we were still going to try and play,
came out and was able to hold off Derek Kemp by a shot to take home 1st place. Derek took home the second place honors and
gift card.
Thank you to all who came out on a
Monday afternoon. I know most had to take time off work (me included) to
be at this event. The Stonebridge Masters is next on-tap and we will max
out the registrations in the next week, so if you have not signed up, I
recommend you do this soon. Once we hit the max registration, I will
begin tracking a wait list.
Thanks
Phil
