Palisades Recap
What a day....The forecast was actually spot on Friday when
they predicted no rain for us. This was
not expected a few days earlier. I'm
putting this down to having a backup date in place in case it was too bad to
play. As luck would have it, the sun shined down on us for the entire day and
made it hot and sticky.
115 players battled it out including 7 players from
neighboring tours.
In the Champ Flight, it all came down to the last hole. Jay Barnes and Chad Hagerman were tied at +2
with one hole to play, Dennis Reames was only 1 back with one to play. Jay made par to stay at +2 on the difficult
18th hole. Dennis lipped a birdie putt
on #1 to stay at +3 and unfortunately Chad hit into a greenside bunker on his
approach to 18 and was unable to get up and down to force a playoff. In the end, Barnes claimed the victory,
Reames took home second, Chad took home 3rd.
Newcomer Chason Trahon tied for 3rd at 76 but lost on the scorecard
playoff to claim 4th place.
In the A Flight, 18 holes was not enough. Seth Holloman and Mark Ballew both posted +3
rounds of 75 from the Challenge Tee’s, They went back to Hole 18 where Mark
claimed victory. Third place went to Tom
Chambers with a 78, Newcomer Andy Eaton shot 82 and claimed 4th place. Corey Davis won a scorecard playoff beating
out Scott Ilowaite and Marc Janse Van Rensburg, all players shot 83.
In the B Flight, Nolan Elenz (81) took home a 1 shot victory
over Will Ray (82), who continues to finish in the top 3 in each of his events.
Flip Flippo was 3rd at 83. Robert
Gruendel and Terry Upwright finished in a Tie for 4th but it was Robert who
took home 4th which left 5th place for Terry.
In the C Flight, it was Matthew Gowan (88) who took home a
one shot victory over Michael Guarino (89) and Bradley Leak (89). Michael took home 2nd place based on the
scorecard playoff. Glen Nutting (91)
took home 4th place honors.
In the D Flight, Richard Zonjic (98) made a successful
return for 2018 with a 1 shot victory over Austin Marshall (99) from the
Memphis/North Mississippi tour. Dannie
Gay (100) continues his good play early in the year and takes home 3rd place.
