A rescheduled event,
Pine Island Country Club played host to the Golfweek Amateur Charlotte Tour.
Eighty Three players, across four tours teed it up on hot and muggy Monday
afternoon.
As usual, Pine Island
yielded good scores and tight competition in most flights.
In the Championship
Flight, a playoff was required to determine a champion. Scott Roberts and James
Ramsey both shot -3 in a back and forth all day. On the first playoff hole
Scott made Par to James' Bogey. For Scott, this will lock his points championship. Ivan Jones, from the
Central Carolina Tour, captures third with a solid 73. Wally loves continues
his solid play with a 74 to take fourth place.
A flight saw a battle to
finish inside the prize line. Taking fourth, just outside the prize line, Scott
Ilowite shoots 77. Taking third on the scorecard playoff is Josh Johnston with
his 77. Joe Zabrecky takes second on the scorecard playoff. Ronneil Herron couldn't
be caught on this day. With an abbreviated warm-up, Ronneil fires a smooth and
stress free 72 to capture the win.
B flight again saw a
battle for second third and fourth which was determined by the card. Joe Lewis
takes fourth, Russell McDonald with third and Nick Adams with second. All
shooting a solid 80. Ben Hughes apparently
found something on the range, as he fired 73 to take the win and a Promotion to A Flight.
C flight saw some a
tight bunch at the top of the leader board. Bradley Leak takes third with a
solid 83. In second, after a small break from golf, Phillip Walder shoots 82.
Bill Shaw, who normal plays the Charlotte Senior Tour, takes the win with a
solid 78.
D flight, also seeing
good scores and a bunched leaderboard. Again from the a scorecard playoff,
Brett Lee takes third place. Greg Scott captures second. Both players shooting
88. On this day though
Raymond Hoerr captures the win shooting 86. Along with the win, Raymond also
earns a promotion to C Flight. Congratulations!!!
Our next event takes the
Charlotte Tour to a course which has been off the schedule for the past few
years. With new greens and some trees removed, Warrior is getting some TLC this
track deserves. Voted some of the best greens in the Charlotte area.
