Championship Flight:
Joe Jaspers started out of the gates quickly in 2013 recording a 4 under par 68 for his first victory of the season. Last years winner at Carolina Lakes did not disappoint, Tyson Louth finished in second place on shot behind Jaspers at 69. Jay Barnes who finished tied for third in last years National Championship, appears ready to go again this season as he fired a 2 under par round of 70 for solo third. Rounding out the top four spots was last years points winner and Senior National Champion with a roller coaster round of 73.
A Flight:
After the regulation 18 hole round three players all stood tied at 78. Stephen Bell, Tim Smith & Jeff Harris all went into sudden-death playoff on the difficult first hole. Bell won the playof with Smith finishing second and Harris in third place. Newcomer John Sanders started his season out great finishing in fourth place with 79, just one shot out of the playoff.
B Flight:
This flight also saw three players tied for first place this time at 79. Jerry York, Jason Long & Dennis Killough all went into a sudden-death playof again on the first hole. Killough dropped out on the first hole and then York captured the victory on the second playoff hole. For York the victory was especially sweet being on his home track and snapping a winless drout. Dan Harmon finished in fourth beating out Cooper Daniel with both players firing 80’s.
C Flight:
Dana Greer won going away with a smooth 83 and repeating as the Carolina Lakes champion in C Flight. Maurice Mack finished in second with 88 and Matt Crates grabbed 3rd place money at 91. Tour veteran Larry Hinson rounded out the top four places with 92.
D Flight:
Mason Hagen won for the first time ever on tour with a smooth 92. The victory also helps his confidence as he tries out for his high school golf team this spring. Eric Riley finished in secodn place with 100 followed by Matt Henson at 100 and Jay Tinch at 103.
Congrats again to Bill hall one his Ace on the par three 12th hole with an eight iron for 150yds.
