CC of Salisbury Recap
It only a little of 2 months to get this event in the books. Having to reschedule from March to June 2nd due to the weather conditions earlier in the year, but we got it in. Even a small rain delay as the final groups were completing their round could not stop this event from being completed in its entirety.
113 golfers representing only two tours competed on the humid Saturday afternoon. I say only two tours as the Charlotte tour draws competitors from many of our neighboring tours. Thanks to the Central Carolina tour members that made the trip over to Salisbury to compete with our group.
Champ Flight
In the Champ Flight, it was once again Jay Barnes who shot a 3 under par 68 to win by 5 shots and claim his 5th victory on the season. A four-way tie for 2nd had to be settled by the Scorecard Playoff method with all players shooting 2 over par 73. In the end it was Jim Aughtry who took second, Dennis Reames with third and Chad Hagerman taking home 4th.
A Flight
In the A Flight is was Ivan Jones (Central Carolina) who came away with 1 shot victory shooting a great score of 73. Michael Brandenburg and Jason Breedlove both shot 74 but Mike beat Jason on the scorecard playoff to claim second place. We had a tie for 4th place as well with Dan Gleason (76) beating out Chad Sherrill (76) in the scorecard playoff.
B Flight
In the B Flight we had some long time members return to the top of the leaderboard. John Torres took home first place honors shooting a great round of 77. John Rinaldi was second with a score of 78. Terry Upright (80) beat Dale Ambrose (80) on the scorecard playoff to claim third place and rounding out the top 5 was Ben Hughes (81) who beat out Nolan Elenz (81) to take home the last paying spot. Based on the results posted, Terry Upright now moves back to the A Flight as his index is now within the A flight range.
C Flight
In the C Flight, it was Scott Cain who came away with a 1 shot victory shooting a round of 82 after complaining all week that he may have to wd due to a bad back. I guess Scott this shows that taking some time off is a good thing. Second went to Randy Geddes (Central) with a score of 83. Third place ended in a tie but after going to the scorecards, John Davidson (Central) who edged out Larry Hinson with scores of 85. Larry took home 4th place honors and gift card.
D Flight
In the D Flight it was Brandon Halsey (91), making his second tour start of the year that came away with a 3 shot victory over Ray Hoerr (94). Based on his index moving out side of the D Flight acceptable range, Brandon has graduated to the C Flight.
