Greg Ries wins A Flight at Stonebridge!
Championship Flight:
Chad Frye won for the third time this season posting a 3 under par 69 at Stonebridge. Frye eagled the par 5 18th hole to avoid a sudden-death playoff with Jacob Roth who fired a 1 under 71. Alex Brenner continues to get his game is spring shape with a third place even par 72. Michael Bailey beat out Joe Jaspers, Tim Nash & Chad Julka on the card for 4th place all shooting 73's.
A Flight:
Greg Ries got his first victory ever on tour in memorable fashion. Ries shot a career best round of 2 under par 70 at Stonebridge for a nine shot victory over the A Flight field. Ries said that this was a once in a life time experience that he won't soon forget. New tour member Jake Wright shot 79 for second place on the scorecard playoff, beating out Chris Gerhard and David Trull. Gerhard and Trull finished 3rd & 4th respectively.
B Flight:
Toby Tyler from Green Bay also won his first event of the year firing a 76 to beat out Scott Honeycutt's 77 by one shot. Ronnie Huffstetler finished third with 78 and Western Piedmont's Andy Murrow shot 80 which was good enough for 4th place.
C Flight:
Chris Jenkins took his home course experience to capture his first win of the season by shooting 81. Chris needed this because he just nipped out Allen Hagen by one with his 82. Ken burke shot 85 finishing in third place while Richard Marazza beat out Jeremy Treadaway & John Rinaldi on the scorecard playoff. All three players shot 87's.
A special Congrat's goes out to PGA Professional and local Charlotte resident Johnson Wagner on his first ever PGA win in Houston Yesterday. We all watched in the Stonebridge Clubhouse Sunday as Wagner held off Chad Campbell for the victory. Wagner is good friends with tour members Tim Nash and Drew Fassett and all the TPC Piper Glen faithful. Have fun in Augusta this week Johnson!
