B, C & D Flight: (Blue)
Championship Flight:
Joe Jaspers started the day by rolling in a 30 footer on number one for a birdie 3. The next two holes Joe made pars but then #4 came up and bit him. Jaspers hit 2 balls out of bounds and carded his highest ever score on tour a "9". Joe did not let this discourage or end his round like a lot of us would, but used it to motivate himself. Joe made the turn at 39 with another birdie at 6 and then caught fire on the back nine shooting a four under par 32. Jaspers had 7 birdies on the day to more than erase the 9, and posted a stellar one under par 71 for the victory. David Schmidt played well on the back nine shooting a one under par 35 but could not keep up with Jaspers birdie barrage and finished in solo second with 74. Jim Aughtry grabbed third with 76 and Bill Hall 4th at 80.
A Flight:
Saw the only sudden-death playoff of the day as three players went back out to the par four 18th to decide the winner. Mike Nasekos was the first to drop out as he made a bogie five. Jason Breedlove and Mike Parker then continued on to the first hole which Breedlove grabbed victory with a par. The fourth place finisher was Steve Espin beating out new comer Sean Kelley on the card.
B Flight:
Phil VanGeersdaelen posted his first victory since 2008 winning by four shots on Saturday. Phil’s back nine 38 is what helped seal his victory over Joel Barlowe & Rich Daniel who both shot 85’s. Jimmy Chapman finished in fourth place with 86 beating out Rick Fliss on the card playoff. With his victory Phil also took over the B Flight points lead.
C Flight:
Nolan Elenz really got it rolling Saturday for his first victory of the season. Elenz posted his best round ever on tour with a smooth 81 beating out Larry Hinson by four shots. Bill Holland and Kevin White both fired 86’s but it was Holland cashing third place money on the card.
D Flight:
Richard Marrazza won going away with a strong 86. The score put him in a move to C flight, congrats Richard on your improved play. Don Varble was second with 109 beating out Dan Doyle on the card playoff.
