Ronan wins A Flight in come from behind fashion!
Championship Flight:
Joe Jaspers won his second major in a row with 36 hole score of 145 (1 over par). Finishing second was Michael Bailey at 149. Virginia’s David Schmidt charged hard on Sunday and finished third at 151. Andy Price and Greg Ries finished tied for 4th at 153 with Price nipping Ries on the card for the money. Congrat’s goes out to Greg Ries on his fine play after being moved up from A flight and finishing the major in the top 5.
A Flight:
Kevin Ronan tasted victory for the first time this season with a great come from behind win Sunday. Ronan fired 78 at Carolina Lakes to finish at 2 day total of 160. Jim Boyce finished in second 2 shots behind Ronan at 163. Point’s leader Steve French continued his steady play with a 164 total good enough for third. Steve Williams rounded out the top for spots at 166.
B Flight:
Chris Studney could not have picked a better time for his first tour win with a 2 day total of 158. Studney started the day 2 shots behind Marty James but James faltered on the back nine to give Studney the victory. James still held on for second place with a 2 day total of 162 3 shots better than Vic Lawrence who finished third at 165 beating out Roy Santonil on the card. Congrat’s to both Lawrence and Santonil. Lawrence cashed for the first time in 2008 and Santonil got a promotion to A Flight for the rest of the season.
C Flight:
Todd Mullis also came from behind Sunday for the victory. Mullis started the day 3 shots behind Saturday’s leader Joe Saenz, but Mullis fired an 88 on Sunday to make up the shots and post a 2day total of 179. Tom Patinia and Ken Burke both finished at 182 with Patania beating out Burke on the card for second place. David Gabbard beat out Mac Gillum on the card for his first cash of the season. Both players shot 2 day totals of 183.
