Championship Flight:
Billy Hall has been knocking on the door all season and
finally broke thru with a 3 shot victory in this Years Players
Championship. Hall fired 69-71 to be the
only player in the field under par both days.
Joe Jaspers trying for the 3 peat of majors came up just short finishing
at 143 total for second place. Jobe
Dyson nipped out Jim Aughtry and Dave Schmidt on the card playoff for third and
Aughtry was 4th. All three of
these players had a 2 day total of 152.
A Flight:
Wally Love lit up TPC on Sunday with his best round ever on
tour or competitively with a 69 to go along with his 78 at Cowans Ford. Love won by 6 shots with a 2 day total of 147
and saw his tour index drop to 2.1 and a grateful promotion to Champ
Flight. Joe Zabrecky was the first round
leader at 74 and held on for a second place finish with a 153 total. Doug Watson from the Augusta tour played consistent
all weekend and finished a strong third at 155.
Doug’s only weakness is he is a Brewers fan and he is just watching and
waiting as my Cardinals overtake him again this season. Robert Surratt rounded out the top four spots
with 156 total beating out Jim Boyce on the card.
B Flight:
Todd Montgomery punched his ticket to Hilton Head for his
first ever win on tour with a 160 total.
David Aussicker fired the low B flight round of the day on Sunday a 79,
but it was not enough to overtake Todd as David finished in solo second at
164. Eric Stanwick finished third at 165
and John Torres rounded out the top four spots at 166.
C Flight:
Dana Greer came from behind for the one shot victory at 167
followed by day one leader Josh Johnston at 168. Peter Caponi finished third at 171 followed
by Matt Painter at 177.
D Flight:
Bill Bender lead wire-to-wire with a 185 total good enough
for a five stoke victory. Michael Fulp
finished solo second at 190 and Jon McIsaac rounded out the top three spots at
192. Benders victory slid him into first
place in the year long points race just passing Bob Beatty by a few points.
