Championship Flight:
Todd McPherson tasted victory for the first time this season with a stellar 69. McPherson pulled away from two other players on the back nine by firing a 3 under 33. Finishing 3 shots back were Chase Wilson and David Brown both at 72. Wilson started out hot firing at 2 under 34 on the front side but a 2 over 38 dashed his chances at victory. Brown’s round consisted of five birdies on the day. Rounding out the top four was Jim Aughtry at 74. Aughtry fell short of trying for winning the Rocky River event for an unprecedented 4 straight years.
A Flight:
Kyle Whitener also tasted victory for the first time this season shooting an impressive 74. Whitener posted 37’s on both sides and played very consistently all day. Jim Boyce who continues to improve each week, finished in second place 3 shots behind Whitener at 77. Three players finished at 79 with Jason Breedlove placing third and Roger Stevenson fourth on the scorecard playoff. Chad Ballard the other 79 finished in 5th place.
B Flight:
Dean Hearn a recent graduate from C Flight now looks to be home in A Flight. Shooting his best round of his golfing career Hearn fired a 75 on Saturday to win by one shot. Looks like we will be seeing Hearn in “A†Flight real soon. Tour Veteran Joe Lewis once again played well at Rocky River by firing a smooth 76. Vic Lawrence also continues his improved play and continues to move up the points list by shooting 78. Rounding out the top four was Matt Cole at 80.
C Flight:
Jeff Gastineau and Patrick O’Connor both shot 84’s on Saturday and gave us are only sudden death playoff of the day. The playoff started on the par 3 10th hole and it was Gastineau making a par that got him the victory. Darren Gentile narrowly missed the playoff finishing one shot back at 85, but it was good enough for a third place finish. Dennis Buck finished in fourth place at 86.
The tours next stop will take us to a favorite stop Cabarrus CC on May 9th a 1pm shotgun start. Please email me back (Yes or No) if you wish to get entered. Don’t wait to long as we are limited to 100 players because of lack of carts.
Practice round rates are available now for only $25 (Monday-Friday anytime).
