It was good to get back to playing this week, and we almost beat the weather….. Only about 40 mins of some rain. Good news is the golf week table cloth got it first cleaning of the year.
A couple of things before we talk about WILDEWOOD results.
First I want to talk about the "COLUMBIA CHAMPIONSHIP" this is the 2 day event we will play at COBBLESTONE PARK 9/29 & 9/30. Winners of this event will be the 2012 champions of their flights. In order to play in this event you must be in the top ten or tied for tenth in your flight, after scoring for the 9/22 Ft Jackson event. ALL PLAYERS WILL START OUT EVEN AND AFTER THE 2 DAYS PLAYER WITH THE LOWEST TOTAL SCORE… WILL BE THE WINNER.
What do you win?

This is a little bit like the PGA FED EX CUP, but no points, just best total score for the 2 days….. And like Bill Hass’s victory last year, everyone has a shot at winning.
Second… we tried the MOBILE LIVE LEADERBOARD sat… I did a half assed job setting it up…. But it still looked great, and I think you all will really like it. Russell Lamoy and some others had a better handle on how to use it and I promise we will have a better set up for the next event. If you’re not sure what this is an application for your smart phone (free) that lets you post your score and it keep track (leader board) of all players in your flight for the tournament. As a matter of fact ANYBODY can log in and see how you’re doing…. So if friend or family member wants to see how you’re playing they can log in and follow scoring. This was used for the Championship round at the World Amateur and it’s going to be used at our tour championship in Hilton Head…. So let’s all get together to work out the bugs. I know you will like it; it made a believer out of me.
Now for the event… WILDEWOOD was in great shape, but played a little tough.
A FLT PAUL SANDERSON had an 81 beating HIRAN HICKS by 2 strokes and MIKE GRIGGS at 84.
B FLT MARCUS DUDLEY had an 82 for one of the better rounds of the day and was a 2 stroke winner over RUSSELL LAMOY who had an 84, with LAWRENCE WHITESIDE at 85. This was the flight players were using the MOBILE SCORING, and it was fun to follow.
C FLT BOBBY HAGEN had his best round of the year 87, for his first win of the year. LYLE WADDELL was 2nd with a 90 followed by LOUIE HINSON at 95.
D FLT this flight continues to have pretty tight matches, and this week was no exception TOM HADDAD was the winner with a 93… one stroke back at 94 WILLIAM HINSON, and MIKE SALTERS joins the top 3 with a 95 .
